• Act as an advocate, facilitating communication between the patient and perinatal staff

• Keep the patient informed about the progression of labor, ensuring they remain calm and relaxed, providing encouragement as needed, and empowering them to trust the birthing process.

During Postpartum:

• Provide home visits for up to 15 hours to assist with newborn care, breastfeeding, and family priorities.

• Offer emotional support, helping the new parent reflect on the birth experience and connect with other new parents.

• Assist with day-to-day activities and chores so the new parent can focus on bonding with their newborn baby.

• Share knowledge of community resources and services, as well as connect new parents with hospital staff for any follow-up wellness visits and medical questions.
